“Pandavara Hole”  is a beautiful picnic spot located nearly 11 km from Sirsi town. In Kannada "Hole" (ಹೊಳೆ) means small stream or small river. This place is located in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka state. Here ”Kengre” river flows through the  green forest.  In river you can see the Shiva Linga carved on the stone. And also you can see “Gogarbha” (stones are carved naturally by river which looks like cow’s stomach), Bheemana Hejje, Hanging Bridge etc. 

Route Map:

Route1:  Approximately 11 km from Sirsi town.

·         From Sirsi town à Go in Hulekal Road up-to 5km, you will get “Neernahalli” cross on right side. Go in Neernahalli Road, take left deviation on that road which moves towards “Itaguli” village.
·          In that road go up-to 1.5 km you will get one mud road (2nd left mud road) on left side which moves towards “GubbiGadde” village. Then go in that road up-to 4km you will get  “Idatalli” village.
·          From that village you have to go in left road up-to 0.5 km  which reaches to “Pandavara Hole”. Bikes are going up-to Pandavara Hole. 4-wheelers are going up-to “Idatalli” village from there you have to walk 0. 5km.

Route2: Approximately 13 km from Sirsi town.

·         From Sirsi town à Go in Hulekal Road up-to 10 km, you will get “Balegadde” village.
·         From that village take right deviation and go in mud road up-to 3km which moves towards “GubbiGadde” village.
·         From GubbiGadde go to Pandavara Hole. From this direction 4 wheelers are going up-to Pandavara Hole “Hanging Bridge”.

Note for Tourists: There is no food facility. And NWKRTC bus facility is available up-to Neernahalli cross bus stop or Balegadde bus stop. So go in your own vehicle.
Please don’t throw plastics, bottles, waste materials in this place. Keep this place clean and peaceful.

"Shankara Honda" is the origin (birth) place of "Aghanashini River" which is located in Sirsi town , Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka state. Aghanashini river is the major river of Uttara Kannada district. This river has created many famous water falls namely: Lusington (Unchalli Falls), Burude Falls etc. Here you can see the Lord "Sri Shankara Temple". This temple is located opposite to "Sri Mahaganapathi (Dodda Ganapathi) Temple-Sirsi".

The Bank of Varahi River- Hosangadi (Udupi District) is very good place for picnic.

About Varahi River:

Varahi River
is a river flowing through Western Ghats to Basrur, Kundapur and Gungulli in western India. It joins with the Souparnika River, Kedaka River, Chakra River, and Kubja River and merges into the Arabian sea.

Taking its birth at 730m above sea level at a place called “HEBBAGILU” near Agumbe (called Chirapunji of the Karnataka ) at Thirthahalli taluk in Shivamogga district. Many of sub rivers join the VARAHI, these rivers are is originated in Shettykoppa.Halige, Kollavadi, Bangaragall, etc.., The major flow of VARAHI takes place in surroundings Hosanagara taluk. The river traversing about 25km from its origin , falls by 455m in cascades which is popularly known as “KUNCHIKAL FALLS”. The annual rainfall in the catchment varies from 200mm-12800mm. The river joins Arabian sea near Kundapur in Udupi district. The consequence of this drop in the river courses and the large quantum of runoff from the monsoon fed catchment area is the construction of “VARAHI HYDEL POWER PROJECT” According to mythology, VARAHA is one of the incarnations of lord Vishnu.

There is a dam across Varahi river constructed for producing of electricity.Dam has been constructed near Yadur.

There is under ground electricity generating station built by KPCL using water from this river near Siddapura in Udupi district.

Devarhole is part of the Shalmala river which originates near Sirsi. It is about 12 kms from Sirsi. The spot is amidst lush green forests of Sahyadri and there are carvings of lingas, Durga, Vishnu, Anjaneya and other deities along the banks of the river. Thousands of pilgrims and devotees visit Devarhole on the occasion of Shivaratri. Some of them are said to belong to the period of Swadi kings who ruled the region during the 16th and 17th century AD.

Route Map:

Go in Sirsi-Yellapur Road (SH-93) up-to 'Kadave cross bus stop' (5 kms from Sirsi). Then take left deviation. Again you will find 2 roads, one which moves towards Kadave & other moves towards 'Devadakere'. Go in 'Devadakere' road (right deviation) up-to Bommanahalli bus stop. Then take left deviation go to 'Devadakere bus stop' (10 kms from Sirsi). Then you will find one mud road which moves towards 'Devarahole'. Go in that mud road up-to 2kms you will get 'Devarahole'.

KSRTC buses avilable up-to 'Devadakere' from Sirsi (Sirsi-Devadakere bus).

Kabini River Resort:

Kabini River Lodge, run by the Karnataka Tourism is a delightful place set on the banks of the river Kabini, dammed to create a large backwaters teeming with bird life. Kabini River Lodge offers a lush slice of paradise. The greatest attraction here is the convergence of spectacular wildlife and birdlife on the banks of River Kabini. An old hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Mysore, the ethnic resort with colonial style bungalows, cottages and tented accommodation offers a tranquil getaway.

It is the home to the Indian bison, wild boar, elephants, leopards, chital, barking deer and the occasional tiger, the resort situated on the edge of the Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary is also famous for its teeming birdlife. Morning jeep safaris into the jungle is an excellent ride. A ride on the river Kabini in a coracle (a native boat shaped like a round, flat basket) provides ample opportunity for wildlife sightings.

Location:

Kabini is a tributary of the river Cauvery that surronds the river lodge. It is located at Karapur, South of Nagarhole Wildlife National Park, Karnataka. The lodge is spread over 55 acres.

How to Get There:

It is 22kms from Bangalore by road via Mysore.
80 Kms from Mysore on Mysore-Mananthavadi Road.
240kms from Ooty via Mysore.


Route map is : Bangalore - Ramnagar - Mandya- Srirangapatna - Mysorering road - Hampapura - Handpost - HD Kote Junction - Antharasanthe - Karapura- Kabini.

Best Season to visit:

Open throughout the year. Best time to visit is in the month of October - March.

Jeep Safari, Elephant rides, Coracle Boat rides, Motor Boat rides, Nature walks, viewing of birds etc.,

Accomodation:

Colonial style Bungalows, Cottages and Tented Cottages are available. These are very expensive, well furnished, hygenic and clean with attached baths.
